| To prevent the spread
of pollution by rain water COLETANCHE is used to protect
industrial waste storage, to cover tips and landfills,
and to confine low activity nuclear waste.
Mining Waste
Mining industries often produce large amounts of waste
which is unsuitable for re-use or recycling. This
waste is usually stockpiled at the production site.
Coletanche has been widely and successfully used
(either covered with soil and grass or uncovered)
to waterproof these stockpiles and to prevent the
pollution of rivers, streams and aquifers.

nuclear waste, which is stored in stacked canisters
in a repository in Northern France, is covered with
a multi layer capping to prevent ingress of water. The
cap includes Coletanche which was chosen for it's ability
to remain watertight for 300 years.
